Dr. Luisa Tinapay is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with a diverse background in clinical healthcare, holistic well-being, and integrative health. She brings a creative, collaborative, and individualized approach to treatment—grounded in evidence-based practices and enriched by a deep respect for cultural context and person-centered care. Luisa works with adolescents, young adults, individuals across various life stages, with a special focus on supporting members of the LGBTQ+ community, those who have experienced trauma, and individuals navigating burnout or high-stress environments. Her approach emphasizes building healthy coping strategies, fostering emotional resilience, improving interpersonal relationships, and encouraging sustainable lifestyle changes—all while incorporating thoughtful medication management when appropriate. In each session, Luisa strives to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel empowered to explore their experiences and take meaningful steps toward healing and growth.

Luisa earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Rutgers University School of Nursing, where she later returned to complete her Doctor of Nursing Practice. Her clinical foundation includes robust experience in adult, pediatric, and psychiatric emergencies, critical care and trauma, integrative wellness infusion, pediatric home care, and mobile stroke response. During her doctoral program, she received specialized training in the care of children, adolescents, and young adults as a grant recipient of the Rutgers University Behavioral Youth program. Her doctoral work reflected her passion for functional wellness by exploring the mental health impacts of a treatment protocol for irritable bowel syndrome. Luisa is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and has received multiple honors, including the Doctor of Nursing Practice Academic Excellence Award and the Hildegard E. Peplau Writing Award. She has worked across a wide range of treatment settings, including acute inpatient psychiatry, outpatient clinics, partial hospitalization programs (PHPs), and intensive outpatient programs (IOPs).

In addition to her work at Integrative Psych, Luisa is affiliated with New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center where she continues to provide clinical care and enjoys academic involvement, interdisciplinary research, and quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care and systems of health delivery. Outside of work, Luisa enjoys traveling, being outdoors (either skiing or hiking), playing piano, and spending time at home with her two Bengal cats Winston and Twyla.
