Practice Policy
Welcome to Integrative Psychiatry of Manhattan.
We are looking forward to meeting you.
Please review our policies to clarify & facilitate our work together.
Treatment Process
[1] INITIAL CONSULTATION:
Your journey with us begins with a comprehensive initial consultation, which lasts between 60 to 90 minutes. During this session, we'd like to understand your treatment goals and gather the necessary information, which may include lab work and input from other healthcare providers. This allows us to formulate a preliminary diagnosis and discuss potential treatment recommendations tailored to your needs.
[2] FOLLOW-UP SESSIONS:
Follow-up sessions are essential to maintaining and adjusting your treatment plan. Monthly medication management sessions typically last 25-30 minutes, while weekly therapy sessions are 40-45 minutes long.
[3] FREQUENCY:
To maintain a continuous treatment relationship, patients on medication must be seen at least once every three months. Patients or parents are responsible for scheduling these appointments well in advance. As per New York State law, patients prescribed stimulant medications are required to have visits every 30 days.
[4] REFILLS:
We recommend scheduling your medication refills during your visits to ensure proper review of your treatment plan. If you need refills between visits, please provide us with at least three business days’ notice.
Payment Information
BILLING STATEMENTS:
Patients are billed on the day of their appointment, with charges automatically applied to the credit card on file. Billing statements, including detailed codes for insurance reimbursement, are available for viewing and download through the Patient Portal. Please note that we reserve the right to cancel future appointments if fees are not paid promptly.
INSURANCE REIMBURSEMENT:
Our practice operates on an out-of-network basis and does not accept insurance directly. We encourage you to contact your insurance provider to confirm your out-of-network benefits. Our team is happy to assist you in understanding how to pursue reimbursement from your insurance company.
CANCELLATIONS:Appointments must be canceled or rescheduled with at least 48 hours’ notice to avoid being charged in full. Please note that charges for cancellations cannot be coded as medical or psychiatric visits and, therefore, cannot be reimbursed by insurance companies.
Video Visits
EMERGENCY PROCEDURES:
At the beginning of each video visit, patients are required to provide their current location address. In the event of an emergency, local emergency resources will be contacted and dispatched to this location.
PRIVACY AND SECURITY:
Our video sessions are encrypted, anonymous, and fully compliant with HIPAA data privacy requirements. We do not record sessions, and we request that patients do not record them either. However, it is important to understand that there are potential risks associated with this technology, such as interruptions, unauthorized access, and technical difficulties. We recommend using headphones to ensure privacy and reduce echo during sessions.
Patient Communication
TEXT LINE:
Please note that our text line is an unattended line for non-urgent communication. We will respond to your message as soon as possible during our regular business hours. If you have an urgent matter, please contact our office directly or seek immediate assistance. For treatment or medication-related concerns, clinicians typically respond within 24 hours.
REGULAR CHECK-INS:
To ensure your satisfaction and the effectiveness of your treatment, we conduct regular evaluations and feedback sessions. These check-ins occur after your initial evaluation and at 45 days, 90 days, 180 days, and 365 days thereafter.
